Kig's New Task for Life

By now I'm sure all of us know a few new things.

1) There is a new map contest that seems simpler than making a map from scratch.
2) Kig now has extensive Hammer Editor knowledge.

1+2= No, not 3. It equals Kig is entering the contest!

I have until September 25th to get my shit together and start making this map. I'm going to need you guys for moral support, creative inspiration, the occasional photoshop work, and someone to get me off my ass.

We're gonna do it. If we do, PGTF2 will get a lot of publicity. I'd advertise in the map if I could but I can't.

I help you with photoshop and shit... I could do textures but you must gimme maps

I just need to send you the skins of things that I want to reskin, so that you can edit them in PS. I don't think you need the map itself.

I can help with like, map designs and atmosphere and stuff. I'll probably leave the photoshopping and stuff to the other guys, but conceptualization is what I do best.

I could help by being that annoying guy you always see at a football game. You know, the guy that wears fizzy rainbow-colored hair and has that '#1' sign.

Kidding, I could help with concepts and ideas.

You mean like... a plain map without textures yet? Because that's what the contest is.

Yeah, but it is not as simple as just skinning a map. There's a lot of optimization going into it. Nodes for hints, triggers, bump mapping, occluders, area portals and stuff like that. I will take me forever to get the visibility down. I'm not too worried about the map skin itself.

Well, Kig, I think we need to have a good Skype about this, whenever you feel comfortable about it. Maybe all of us can get involved. Also, is Mikey in? :O
